Short Haircut styles
Short hair don’t care? The current crop of short hairstyles are edgier and more modern than in previous years, so if you’re tempted to hit the hairdressers now is the perfect time. From shaggy bobs, hybrid lobs, messy shags and pixie cuts there’s more than one way to style yourself for low-maintenance, but high impact hair.
If you’re thinking of taking the plunge and going for the chop or just cutting into your mid-length hair for a style revamp, it’s wise to follow a few rules. Making sure your shorter style matches your face-shape is crucial to pulling off this kind of look, so we asked Jonathan Long, co-founder of Chelsea salon Lockonego, for his tips for what to choose and how to ask for it at the hairdresser.
“Taking a photo with you to the hairdresser is a really useful tool, " he advises. "Take more than one and see if you can get the same style from different angles. It’s important to understand that the image you take in will be of one instant, but that hair moves and sits differently all the time, which is why a full consultation is so important. Getting a shorter style is a big decision so make sure you’re happy before you go for the chop - you don’t want to end up with a haircut you don’t want and have to grow out.”
If you have a Heart-Shaped face
“The most flattering styles for this face shape will have some length around the face. Think Michelle Williams in the Louis Vuitton adverts. It’s a short cut, but there’s length to play so it becomes quite versatile and can be styled in a variety of different ways.”
